When I photographed this scene, the sky was not this bright blue. It was a beautiful blue but not this bright. The original painting happened to be a small watercolor and with watercolor, once you put a color down, it is hard to change it. I thought when I applied the color for the sky that it was too bright but once I finished the rest of the painting, it was perfect. The contrast of the colors in the painting and the feeling it evokes in the viewer is what has made this so appealing.
